Stop light Vintage Gas Can

This is my card I made today using the new releases COOL RIDE and GAS CAN from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS.

My inspiration came from PaperCrafts magazine Jan/Feb 09 issue page 39. I just love this stop light.

WHAT I DID: My card is 3 1/4 x 5 3/4 (skinny card). I punched out the colored circles from 1 1/4 punch and the black circle that mats it is 1 3/8 from SU. The colored circles are popped up as well as the black circles. The black strip behind is 1/4" wide and slightly smaller than the inside panel which is 1/8" smaller than the card. I stamped "What a Gas" sentiment around the top and right edge only of the vintage paper. Than sanded it with sand paper. I then sewed around the edges with sewing machine and adhered to the black card. Then I ran my finger around the edges pulling up the unsewn outside edges. The black strip is adhered, then the circles. I then stamped two gas cans trying to get a faint look on the BG DP. I cut each out, added an eyelet, put ribbon through and safety pin then adhered with three pop up dots in heighth to be slightly higher than the stoplights. That's it. Pretty simple.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING ME.

RECIPE:

STAMP SETS USED:Cool Ride, Vintage Gas Can
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS:Black(DCWV), DP (Basic Grey), Vintage DP (Scrap)
INK:Basic Black, Close To Cocoa (Stampin Up)
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS:Sand Paper, Eyelets, Eyelet setter, 1 3/8", 1 1/4" circle punches(Stampin Up), Safety Pins (Joann ScrapEssentials), Ribbon (Joanns), Sewing Machine

Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #38

This is my card (Click photo for enlarged view) for Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #38. This weekend's hostess is Cassie.
Her colors are:
Sage Shadow
Apricot Appeal
Close To Cocoa
Opt. Really Rust
Neutrals: white or vanilla

I had this idea in my mind to make a snow card using the Cool Ride sentiment as a play on words. Wonder if anyone, besides myself will get it. Hee.

WHAT I DID: I used the stair step fold technique. My card base is Close To Cocoa. I cut out white panels and punched the Martha Stewart Around the Page Snowflake border punch than cut it to size for all three panels. I then placed micro brads on some of the snowflakes. I stamped the new release FORD COUPE 1939 from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS on watercolor paper and using the ink pads of the chosen colors and an aqua pen I watercolored and cut out and popped up the image with dimensionals. My sentiments are a new release COOL RIDE also from CDS. I stamped the Cool Ride on the front and embossed it then punched out two 3/16" holes and threaded the ribbon through and knotted it. The back sentiments I stamped the rust one first and then the others (not embossed). I had trouble with this turning out and you can see my stamp mess ups on the senitiments, but I was not about to scrap this one. It is for my Step-father for his birthday that is in December. I think it will work.

Thank you for visiting!

RECIPE:
STAMP SETS USED:

Featured Stamper #137

This is my card for last Sunday's Featured Stamper (tankgirl) on SCS.

I chose this card to case.

Changes I made:
Omitted the tag
Stamped My image on the top panel
Made my own dp for bottom panel
Stitched around the edge

I used this beautiful and fun new release TEA-RRIFIC from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS.

WHAT I DID: My card is 4x4. I made my white panel just 1/8" smaller than the card. Cut the mambo melon 2 1/4 x 3 7/8 and stamped my teabags in Mambo Melon then tea time with versamark before adhering to the white. Then with ruler made faint 1/8" border on entire card front. Paper pierced 1/8" holes around, then erased the pencil marks. I then stiched using 2 strands of DMC floss and stitched ever other stitch keeping the look tankgirl had on her card. I then stamped and heat embossed the teacups in chocolate chip. Then stamped the teacup and teapot on watercolor paper. I watercolored using ink pads and an aqua painter. Then I heat embossed the sentiment. That's it.

Thank you so much for visiting me.

Hostess's Choice

I hostessed the Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge on Paper Craft Planet this past weekend. It is always so fun to see how everyone's creations come out differently though we are all using the same color scheme. Love that

Thank you Cassie,Anja, Dawn, Christi, Gloria, Pam, Tricia, Sue and K.Joy for taking the time to play. Thank you Katie (who acutally played but wouldn't show us heee heee J.K.), Angela And Lori G. for stopping by and saying hi.

Now onto Hostess' Choice. I chose two:

Anja made two (amazing huh?!) This is her first. I just love how pretty she made the peony.

This is Anja's second card. She said she made it from scraps left on her craft table. Wow my cards from scraps don't look like this. I just love the peony off to the side. And in this photo you can really see the beautiful embossed bg. Lovely job Anja. Thank you so much for playing.

K.JOY

K. Joy
Welcome K.Joy. I just love your coloring and that brilliant blue. So pretty. Those green fern punches just stand out nicely. I love the green and brown marbles in the jar. Great job! Hope you join us again. Thank you for playing.

Limited Supplies Challenge # 238

This is my card for today's Limited Supplies Challenge Spooooky Colors.

I used this wonderful new release I -A-DOOR YOU from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS.

WHAT I DID: I stamped the door on DP twice. The first one I cut out the opening and the top door and window from it. The second, I cut out the shelf part and the area where I have the sentiment. I did it so I could sponge all the edges. I scored the lines and sponged this gave a curve to the door. I used dimensionals and adhered the other dP and then adhered to the black on the card.

Thank you for visiting.

RECIPE:

STAMP SETS USED:
I A-Door You
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS:Paprika, Night Sky (The Paper Company), Black, Fall Stack 2007 (DCWV)
INK:Basic Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS:Ribbon Yarn ($1 store), Dimensionals, Button (LSS), Cuttle Bug, CB embossing folder, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Tim Holtz Blending Tool

Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge 37

This is my card for Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge I am hostessing this weekend.

It is also for this week's Sketch Challenge.

I used this cute new release AT THE RACES from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS.

WHAT I DID: I stamped the first car near the bottom, then created a mask by stamping on the top of a post-it note, cut it out and placed it on top of my image. Then I stamped the second car, removed the mask, placed on the second car and stamped the third. This gave me the side by side look I wanted. I decided to use the spotlight technique, but wanted to do something different. Instead of punching out the image from a separate piece of paper, I punched a circle from a piece of paper and placed it over my images. Then I colored in the part I wanted. Leaving a circle shape. I paper pierced around it. That's it.

Thank you for visiting today.

RECIPE:
STAMPS:At the Races (Clear Dollar Stamps)
PAPER:Westcoast Hyper White, Brown (scrap), Summer Travel Pad (K&Company)
INK:Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green (Stampin Up)
ACCESSORIES:Paper Piercer, Dimensionals, Small, Large Corner Rounder Punches, 1 3/8" circle punch (Stampin Up), needle, DMC floss, Mini Brads

Notecards for Emma

My neice's birthday is tomorrow and she is turning 12. I made her these notecards. She loves to draw. And draws very well. Lately she has been drawing Manga. Her people have large eyes. So I just had to get this digi stamp when I saw it by talented Chris Dark:http://sketchingstamperdigi-stamps.blogspot.com/

These were very simple to make. I just copy and pasted the image in microsoft publisher, the size of my card. I printed it out onto DP. Then I printed it on white CS and cut out the head and colored in the hair and eyes. I popped it up with dimensionals and glazed the eyes and pony tail holder. I lined my envelopes with matching paper. Easy!

RECIPE:
STAMPS:Digi Stamp by Chris Dark
PAPER:Summer Travel Pad (K&Company), Westcoast Hyper White
INK:Printer, Bic Mark-It Markers
ACCESSORIES:Dimensionals, dimensional glaze (inkessentials)

Puyallup Fair

Sillyville
My Mom and I went to the Western Washington Puyallup Fair today. It is the biggest fair in Western Washington. With that said, I saw three people I knew. How fun. When we first arrived, we were handed free tickets to the new Sillyville Train ride. Just follow the blue line. Okay, so we did....

Sillyville Train
This is the cute new Sillyville Train ride. It was a sweet little ride.

Reserve Grand Champion Quilt
My Mom is a quilter and she wanted to see the quilts. I took a picture of my favorite and it just so happened, my Mom knew this talented quilter. Isn't it amazing?!

Perfectly Preserved Preserves
I just had to take pictures of these home canned goodies. There were also cookies, cakes, pies etc...etc...

Milking Time
Everytime I go to the fair I have to stop by the Milking Station and have a sample of milk. Today's was chocolate.

Piglet Palace
I could not leave until we saw the new piglets. Aren't they cute. See that one on the right with his eyes closed and still drinking his mama's milk?!

Last stop - Caramel Apple
Now that I'm ready for my caramel apple, we find one just before going home. Mmmmmm...crunchy, chewy, sweet, dripping goodness. Worth waiting for. Yum.

Featured Stamper Challenge #136

This is my card for today's Featured Stamper Challenge.

Congratulations Shannan (Steubner). I am a big fan of your creations. I chose this card of yours to case:
Changes:
Omitted ribbon and scallop mat around image
Made my BG squares larger
Faux stitched my squares

I used this sweet new release CHARLIE HARVEST TIME from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS:

WHAT I DID: My card is 4 1/2" square. I stamped my image and layered with DP. 15 layers! Wow! For definition I sponged the edges of each layer with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut Stain. It helps make it stand out. Also I wanted to include the two wheats that come with this set so I stamped them on the dP BG squares. I chose to faux stitch on the squares instead of sewing machine. I tried to make it look like sewing machine by giving it a carefree whimsical look, I get when I sew fast. Hee

Thank you for visiting.

Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #36

Hi everybody. I love how Elmo from Sesame Street says it. Hee. Elmo makes me smile.

This is my card for Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #36 hosted by Alex on Paper Craft Planet.
Alex's colors are:
Black
Red
Yellow
White as neutral
Alex' card is so fun and cute! You've got to check it out!

I chose these new releases CHEVY TRUCK 1956 and COOL RIDE from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS.

I made this card for my brother for his upcoming birthday. He had a black Chevy Truck once and I just had to use this for his birthday. I tried using black, but the color did not come out well so I decided to make the truck red. I think that is one of his favorite colors anyway.

WHAT I DID: My card is 5x5. I came up with this sketch and this size fit with it well. First I stamped my truck 4 times in versamark then black ink and heat embossed. I punched out the front, back and middle and cut out one full truck. I colored using the Bic Mark-It since I do not YET own Copics. For the red, I colored one small part at a time with the red and then outlined with burgandy and rubbed the red tip on the burgandy to blend and get the rustic vintage color. Cool.

For the sentiments in the corner, I arranged the sentiments the way I wanted on my paper then carefully placed my acrylic block on top to keep the arrangement and stamped in black. My block has a grid, so I used that to align it in the corner. It worked pretty well.

Thank you for looking.

RECIPE:
STAMP SETS USED:Chevy Truck 1956
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS:Black(DCWV), Watercolor, Basic Grey DP
INK:Basic Black (Stampin Up), VersaMark
MARKERS :Bic Mark-It Markers
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS:Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensionals, Dimensional Glaze (Inkessentials), 1 1/4, 1 3/8 circle punches (Stampin Up), Needle, DMc floss, Mouse Pad, Paper Piercer, Border Punch(EK Success), Brads

Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #63/ Ways To Use It Challenge #235

This is my card for today's Ways To Use It Challenge (Using Red):http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d.php?t=458044

I did not use ALOT of red, just a tiny friendly ladybug saying "hi".

This card is also for Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Challenge (post #153):http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...140&page=4

I originally designed this card for Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday this week. I am just arriving. Fashionably late, as they say. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay Fashionalby, in my case. Hee. (My asthma is giving me trouble for 3 weeks now and thus the slooooooooooooooowness). I have meds now though. So hopefully my speed will pick up with my energy. That is the plan.

Like I was saying this card was meant for MMTPT inspired by her ladybug teapot. When I saw today's challenge, I thought "it has RED on it", so even though it is a small bit of red, it is still red and pops on my (handmade) daisy. Right?!

WHAT I DID: I first cut out the largest circle using my coluzzle and drew my daisy template which I traced onto my white textured paper. I then scored and folded the petals down the center for dimension. I cut out another same sized circle from Tempting Turquoise CS from my 4 3/4 square card. It looked like it needed something, so I added sponging and stitching.

The ladybug, I stamped onto the yellow textured paper then stamped two more times on white textured paper. I colored him red, cut him out and popped him up on the flower center. I then colored and cut out just the head and popped it up on top for dimension. Finished off with dimensional glaze on the ladybug only.

Thank you for visiting me!
RECIPE:
STAMPS:Very Punny (Stampin Up Sale a bration 2007)

This sleek race car just was not complete without dimensional glaze for shine.

RECIPE:

MY SCRAPLING BOOKMARK
What is a Scrapling? It is what is left over from a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of paper after making a 4" square card. The little card measures 1 1/2 x 4".

WHAT I DID:For my scrapling, I chose to make a magnetic bookmark. I stitched acetate over the top on both sides. Both sides looks the same. I watercolored using ink pads and an aqua pen on watercolor paper. This was good practice for me. For the magnet, I used Basic Grey's Magnetic Snaps (love these).

Yesterday's Ways To Use It Challenge #234

This is my card (a day late, but I have my $1 Hee) for Ways To Use It "Sand It" Challenge:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d.php?t=456904

I cased this adorable card by tradergirl:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1466322 I showed this card to Dawn and she said that we may have to case it. I was thinking the same thing. So, when I saw this challenge, I thought ah-ha, I 'm gonna do that adorable apple card. So, here's to you tradergirl! TYFS.

I used this month's new Charlie release CHARLIE HARVEST TIME from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS:http://www.cleardollarstamps.com/

WHAT I DID: I first made my own template by cutting out a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 rectangle from copy paper. I folded in half and drew my shape from the fold to the edge and cut. This was my template. I cut out this shape from my folded base and smaller ones from the black and dp. I decided to cut my black border punch layer on the diagonal. When this was all adhered down, I decided to stitch making it look like the blanket stitch. I love how it turned out. I stitched on stitch along the edge then one stitch toward the center to get this look. For my image I stamped it in black, cut it out with an edge, inked it using Tim Holtz blending tool and distress in Vintage Photo. Then Sanded it. I stamped and cut out the apple and colored it, inked the edges, popped it up and added dimensional glaze.

Thank you for visiting.
RECIPE:
ALL STAMP SETS :
Charlie Harvest Time

Lance Corporal Lara

LANCE CORPORAL LARA
I have good news and I got it straight from the horse's mouth. I just got off the phone with one of my favorite people in the whole wide world, my son. He was promoted to Lance Corporal today. Apparently it is a tradition that once you are pinned that your fellow Marines punch you on your pin. So the pin gouges into your collar bone. Ouch. Yep, welcome to manhood, I guess. So, I am a proud mommy and very happy to have heard from my son (he called all on his own). What a good boy (okay, he's a MAN but he'll always be my BOY!) Just wanted to share the news.
