Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #30

I am hosting the Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge today until Sunday 9pm EST. Get out your Clear Dollar Stamps and come join the fun here:http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/cleardollarstampsllcweekendcolorchallenge/forum/topics/clear-dollar-stamps-weekend-14

The colors I chose are:

Sage Shadow (muted green with touch of slate blue)

Regal Rose (Bubble Gum Pink)

More Mustard (Color of Dijon Mustard)

Optional: Copper

Neutral: White

These colors were a challenge for me. I chose colors that have not been used much. Even by me. These colors were new to me, except for More Mustard. So I went out of my comfort zone on this one. I even used my aqua pen and ink pads to color with. Yikes. Scarey.

First, I chose this cute cute cute image PATCHPAL BUNNY designed by our own Shawne Arnold from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

This was also my first time using him. I ordered him just before vacation and am just now getting to ink him up. He's sooooooo cute. I love carrots.

I am a bit disappointed with my picture taking skills. The sun is not shining through our overcast sky so I did my best with lighting indoors and still feel my card looks better IRL. Oh well........

Also, I did not have these colored papers, so I used my brayer and sponged for the BG.

Thanks for visiting.

Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #57/Color Combination Challenge #229

WHY DID THE FROG WALK ACROSS THE ROAD?

He didn't ...he jumped.

Why did the frog cross the street?

because the chicken crossed the road.

Why did the frog cross the road?

to see what the chicken was doing.

Why did the frog cross the road?

Some mean little kid super-glued it to the chicken.

Why did the frog stop in the middle of the road?

To get hit by a steamroller

Why did the frog stay in the middle of the road?

he ran after a fly and was hit by a car.

Why did the frog cross the road?

If a chicken can do it so could he!

(NO FROGS WERE INJURED IN THE RE-CREATION OF THIS JOKE)

This is the Rare Orange Rainforest FAT Frog. I found him on my craft table and he is coming with me to a teaparty on a lilly pad. Wanna know more? Come with me to Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Tea party:http://mothermark.blogspot.com/search/label/Teapot%20Tuesday%20Cards

Cindy's challenge today is a picture of this darling fat Frog teapot. I did not have any frog or lilly pad stamps so I made my frog and lilly pads and lilly from punches and paper. For the Frog, I punched 2 1 1/4" circles. One is for the body and the other I put through the punch again and punched just about half of the circle for the head. The lilly pads are the SU scallop punch that I ran throught the paper crimper 15 times changing the position each time then pulling the edges up to make a bowl like shape. The lilly I cut a strip of pink paper 3/8" wide with scallop edging scissors and ran it through the paper crimper too about 15 times. then I wrapped it around the quilling pen thing , then lossened the roll and folded the outside edges down a bit til I had the shape I wanted.

This card is also for today's Color Combination Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450643

The color's for today's challenge are: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Pixie Pink, Neutrals of you own choice. I used colors I had that were as close as I could come because I did not have the SU colors.

I printed the sentiment out using Font CK Elusive from Scrapnfonts.com. I cut it out with scissors whimsically and matted with black to make it stand out.

Thank you for visiting me today.

Thanks for visiting me today.

Inspiration Challenge #190

I must say, I was spoiled in California, my allergies were non-existent. No asthma, not even a sniffle. Unfortunately now that we are home, they have found me again. It has been slow going getting the house back in order and making cards. Not enough energy to go around. Hee Hee. The stomach flu bug found me also Saturday evening. So I have had this card idea since Saturday and it was really slow going since I was not feeling well. But here it is.

This is my card for Saturday's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450218

I had my mind set on using this beautiful July release SHELTERING LIGHTS from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

So how did I do my mosaic? It is fairly simple, that it is all squares first of all. I decided the size of my image, and the size of my card, then created a grid for the size of squares evenly divisible by the size of my image. I chose 1/2" squares. Then I taped my grid to my light box and taped my card on top of it using removeable tape. I just adhered the sqares on my card using the grid. When finished I removed it and carefully cut off the excess of the squares hanging over the edges. How about that? Fairly simple, just timely. But I just had to do it. You know how that goes once you get an idea in your head. Hee.

Thank you for visiting me today!

Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #29

This is my card for Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #29 hosted by Cassie at Paper Craft Planet: http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/cleardollarstampsllcweekendcolorchallenge/forum/topics/clear-dollar-stamps-weekend-13

The challenge colors are: Bermuda Bay (teal), Basic Gray (Dark Gray), Only Orange (Orange) and White Neutral. These were fun colors to work with Cassie. I love them. I made a masculine card as I combined this challenge with the Ways To Use It Challenge at Splitcoaststampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450086

The Ways To Use It Challenge was to use an image that had an engine in it. So "Ah-Ha", I had the perfect stamp, a July new release YARD YABBER from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

Details about my card: First, I was inspired by Heather's (inglishrea) card from today's SCS gallery: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1423823 I saw this card and used it for my sketch, except I change the squares to three vertical panels. And I did not leave a white border or use another layer f0r my sentiment. Thank you Heather for your FAB inspiration.

For the BG panels, I distressed them by fraying the edges with open scissor edge, then I crumpled each a little and swiped with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo. Then I ironed it. I love this look. I got the idea from his website.

I love how the circle frames this image. I used the sentiment to look like grass and go with the verb "mow". I used the orange to stand out and get my message across. I love how it turned out to be a masculine card.

Thank you for visiting me.

Sketch Challenge #238 And Ways To Use It Challenge #228

This is my card for Yesterday's Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoaststampers:http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449971

The challenge was to use a charm. I used this charm that is meant for use in making jewelry, I found it at a dollar store, what a find. I love it in the center of my flowers.

This card is also for Wednesday's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449710

For my image, I used this inspiring July new release SHINING STRENGTH from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

For my main panel that the squares rest on, I cut out a piece of acetate (from Clear Dollar Stamps) and rubbed the edges on my Stazon black ink pad, to make it stand out. Then, I wanted to add some color to my squares, but wanted a serene look fitting for the message. So I stamped the words in these colors from the DP and made certain words stand out in black to form the horizontal message that can be read from right to left.

Thank you for visiting me today.

STAMP SETS USED:Shining StrengthPAPERS:June Bug Collection Pack (Basic Grey from Clear Dollar Stamps), Westcoast Hyper White CS, Black (DCWV), ScrapsINK:Stazon Jet Black, Tempting Turquoise, Orchid Opulence, Gable Green, Basic Black, ZIG Millenium Black pen 01ACCESSORIES :Acetate (from Clear Dollar Stamps), paper piercer, piercing mat, Prima flowers (Michaels), Charm (Dollar Store)

Back From Vacation

Well, we are back from beautiful sunny, HOT Southern California. My mother-in-law always treats me like a princess. They basically eat dinner for each meal. Very rich. But yummy!!!!!! I love being able to go a few blocks and getting tamarindo agua or orchata or melon agua (water). Yummy........very refreshing in 107 degree weather. The day we left it was to be 110 with a high of 115. Good day to leave! LOL.

I am so happy that I got to see my Marine son. I just wanted to hug him and not let go. It was hard driving away. Sigh. We went to the San Diego Wild Life Park together. That was very nice. I enjoyed seeing the animals. Especially a Stork. Wow. Are they big!!!!!!!!!!! The birds would land very near you and just sit there. There was a king fisher just three feet from me, happily resting, not moving. They had these geese, larger than the Canadian geese (fatter) and different colored, that would just stand right in front of you and would not move. They blocked me from getting a better view. Silly. Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures will be up soon!

Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge #26

Sweet Shawne is hosting this weekend's Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge at Paper Craft Planet: http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/cleardollarstampsllcweekendcolorchallenge/forum/topics/clear-dollar-stamps-weekend-10

The colors Shawne chose for us are:

Baja Breeze, Real Red, Barely Banana and White neutral

Shawne's card is amazing. I decided to go with this wonderful new release SHELTERING LIGHTS from CLEAR DOLLAR STAMPS LLC: http://www.newcleardollarstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront

I stamped the lighthouse in VersaMark and then pierced holes and stitched in the challenge colors. That is all I was going to do because I thought the stitching could stand alone. But I got a smudge on it, UH OH, yes a smudge. So I put the ribbon to cover up the smudge then decided to add the sentiment in the bottom corner. I stamped too light. UH OH. Yes, so I stamped on another piece of paper and punched it out. Yes, part of this card was created from OOPS!!!!!!!!! Hee Hee.

Thanks for visiting.

DETAILS: STAMP: Sheltering Lights (Clear Dollar Stamps) PAPER: Westcoast Hyper White, Primary Red (The Paper Company) INK: VersaMark, Stampin Up Real Red ACCESSORIES:Charm (Dollar Store), DMC Floss, Needle, Paper Piercer, SU 1 1/4" circle, 1 3/8" circle punches, eyelet setter hole punch, Large corner rounder punch, Satin Ribbon (Michaels)

Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday #53

I am a day late and a dollar short for Mothermark's Light Show Teapot Tuesday Tea Party in Hershey Park, Good thing I don't need a dollar to get in the front door. Hee Hee : http://mothermark.blogspot.com/search/label/Teapot%20Tuesday%20Cards

Since my asthma was flaring up and I had just got medicine from the doctor, I was resting, so I made a card that I could do on the couch. So I decided to stitch Kim's beautiful Peony. Yes, insane, I know, but I had time and wasn't going anywhere, at least not without coughing and short of breath anyway. That's now way to go places. Goodness.

So I stamped the peony with VersaMark onto my white paper. Then paper pierced holes for stitching. I just used one color and three strands of floss. It was fun. I like it. I've been wanting to stitch this flower up, so now I had my opportunity. I added more mustard to all the edges for the light effect of Cindy's nightlight.

Thank You for Visiting today.
